Cefotaxime sodium is a third-generation semi-synthetic cephalosporin, which is not as effective against gram-positive bacteria as cefazolin. Enterococci are resistant to this product, ineffective against penicillin-resistant pneumococci, and gram-negative. The bacteria have strong bactericidal activity, and the antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli, Influenza bacillus, Pneumococcus, Proteus mirabilis, and Salmonella is stronger than that of cefoperazone, weak or resistant to Bacteroides fragilis, aeruginosa, and sewer. Enterobacteriaceae are not sensitive to this product.
